The Sagadahoc County Democratic Committee will meet Tuesday, August 30, at 7 pm in the conference room of the Bath Police Department at 250 Water Street. All registered Democrats and those wishing to join the Democratic Part are welcome. Please come find out what’s happening and how you can help. Share your time, talents, and ideas to help us make a difference.
It’s been a short hectic summer packed with political activity in a year that should have been an ‘off’ year, but Sagadahoc Dems are going strong.
In June over fifty Sagadahoc Democrats gathered in Bowdoinham’s charming Town Hall for the annual Spring Social featuring an extensive legislative update from Representative Seth Berry and a presentation about politics and the media. At the beginning of July we collaborated with BIW Local 6 on a Rosie the Riveter float in the Bath Heritage Days parade. At the end of the month we staffed a booth on the main drag at Richmond Days, (where, to the delight of his supporters and the crowd in general, Senator Seth Goodall presented the scene-stealing baby Grace in her first public appearance!)
In the three weeks between those two community events, our Sagadahoc volunteers collected 1,765 signatures for the People’s Veto campaign to restore same-day voter registration in Maine.
Now, as August winds down, we’re gearing up to keep the public spotlight on the actions of the Reapportionment Commission in Augusta. We’re helping to generate a crowd at this week’s public hearing and working to find local leaders to testify and letter writers to insist that Sagadahoc County shares economic development projects, transportation networks, natural resources management, and social service programs with Brunswick and Harpswell and the greater Portland area and should remain in the First District with them.
And, as Labor Day looms on the horizon, it’s time to get serious about winning back House Districts 60 and 64 and making them part of a Democratic majority in 2012.
We need your help and your input. We need to raise some money. We need to make plans and phone calls and food; solicit funds, auction items, and votes.
Please come sign on to help. And if you can’t make the meeting, you can still click here to let me know what role you can play in this most important and rewarding effort.
Thank you for all you do.
Sincerely,
Bronwen Tudor, Chair
Sagadahoc County Democratic Committee
