There have been dramatic improvements in accessing the Affordable Care Act website, so the timing was great for the public forum on the ACA, co-sponsored by The Topsham Public Library and the Sagadahoc Democratic Committee last Saturday.

Thom Watson, ACA navigator, presented an overview of the ACA, then walked attendees through the ACA sign-up process, and fielded numerous questions from the audience throughout his presentation.  Among his highlights were the newest and most important features of the upgraded ACA website that, among other things, allows users to browse available plans before having to go through the application process.

Thom is a former Legislator from Bath now working as the Senior Staff Attorney at the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board.  He is also a Trustee with Midcoast Maine Community Action where he received training and certification as an Affordable Care Act Navigator.  As a Navigator, Watson assists people who want to apply for healthcare coverage on the Federal website.

We’ll be announcing more ACA Forums to be held around the county, so please stay tuned.
